Mexico Summit 2018

This year's Mexico Summit will be focused on the Mexican presidential election, now that Andrés Manuel López Obrador has claimed victory and will serve a six-year term. Joining his ranks are 500 new members of the Chamber of Deputies and 128 members of the senate. The event will examine the state of Mexican politics after a fraught transition of power, with an emphasis on how the president-elect will assume the reins.

What will become of the important energy reforms instituted by Enrique Peña Nieto? How will AMLO handle the ever-sensitive NAFTA negotiations? What insights from Obrador’s tenure as mayor may be used to predict his policies as a future president? How will he address Mexico’s evergreen challenges: inequality, unemployment, corruption, and harness the areas in which it is best-poised to thrive: manufacturing, fintech, entrepreneurship, higher-value exports, renewable energy, competitive healthcare R&D clusters?
